Aly Raisman Wins Silver Medal During Women's Floor at 2016 Olympics

Aly Raisman fell short in her attempt to win a second consecutive Olympic gold medal in the floor exercise Tuesday, but she still managed to capture a silver at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games.

Raisman was one of five gymnasts selected to Team USA, and she was named captain due to her combination of success at the elite level and experience in major competitions.

She was a key part of the Americans winning team gold four years ago in London, and she also took two individuals medals in the form of floor exercise gold and balance beam bronze.

The 22-year-old veteran entered Brazil on a high note with regard to her floor routine, as she won gold in the event at the 2016 Pacific Rim Championships.

Her proficiency once again carried over to the Olympics, and it resulted in her capturing the United States' eighth all-time medal in floor exercise at the Summer Olympics.

Following her latest performance, Raisman has now won three medals in Rio and a total of six in her Olympic career, making her one of the most decorated American gymnasts of all time.

While Raisman has gotten overshadowed to some degree by the all-around performances of teammates Gabby Douglas and Simone Biles over the past two Olympics, she once again proved why she is a key cog for Team USA.

There is a strong chance the Rio Games will be Raisman's final Olympics since she will be 26 years of age by the time the 2020 Summer Olympics come around, and if that is the case, she went out on a high note as one of the best Olympic floor exercise performers ever.
