Revis Active vs. Redskins

Friday, Aug. 19

The Jets announced Revis would be active for Friday's preseason game against Washington.

Revis Enjoyed Solid 2015 Season Despite Wrist Injury

The seven-time Pro Bowler suffered the injury last season but managed to play through wrist soreness.

The exact moment in which the injury occurred was never disclosed, but ESPN.com's Rich Cimini reported it "apparently happened early in the season, perhaps as far back as Week 3."

Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post also speculated that it was the reason why Revis allowed Buffalo Bills star receiver Sammy Watkins to catch 11 passes for 136 yards in a Week 17 game that the Jets needed to win in order to make the postseason.

The Jets lost the game, 22-17, and were forced to watch the playoffs from home despite a 10-6 record.

Regardless, Revis still recorded five interceptions in 14 games in his return to New York after a pair of yearlong stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots. It was the most interceptions he has recorded since a 2009 season in which he picked off six passes.

With quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick finally making his return to the team after signing a one-year contract July 27, the Jets have their offensive centerpiece solidified for the 2016 season. Now, the organization and its fans can be excited as one of its best defensive players rejoins the team on the field to help the team push for an AFC East title.
