Neymar Fan Arrested After Hiding in Laundry Room of Brazil Team Hotel
July 29, 2016
A fan plotting to get a selfie with Neymar was arrested after he was discovered in the laundry room of the Brazil team hotel as the Selecao prepare for the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
According to ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan, a 21-year-old sports student managed to breach security at the hotel in the city of Goiania, Brazil with the Selecao set to play a warm-up game for Rio 2016 against Japan on Saturday.
Per Globo, the young man "had planned to take a selfie with Neymar" before he was arrested, while ESPN Brasil (h/t Corrigan) reported that he used false credentials for the Brazilian FA (CFB) to gain access to the hotel.

Police officer Vladimir Passos explained that the trespasser was later released with a caution and that "the flaw [in security that allowed him to gain access] was spotted and we've fixed it," per AFP.
Passos also explained how the fan came to be apprehended: "Hotel staff noticed something strange in his behaviour and called us. [He] planned to approach Neymar and the team."
Barcelona star Neymar, 24, will be the key man for Brazil as they aim to win a first-ever Olympic gold medal at the Rio Games.
Three-time silver medalists—including at London 2012—the Selecao face an opening clash with South Africa on August 4 before further Group A matches against Iraq and Denmark.
Should Brazil reach the final, they will play for the gold medal at Rio's famed Maracana on August 20.
