Brandon Marshall Challenges Antonio Brown to Bet, Puts Luxury Cars on the Line

Kyle NewportJul 28, 2016

Many consider the Pittsburgh Steelers' Antonio Brown to be the best receiver in football, but that's not keeping New York Jets wideout Brandon Marshall from making a bet with the Steel City star.

On Wednesday, which happens to be the same day the Jets reportedly reached a deal with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, per ESPN's Adam Schefter, Marshall took to Instagram to challenge Brown to a wager.

Either the two wideouts could race for pinks, or they could put their luxury cars on the line based on their on-field production.

Marshall's first season with Fitzpatrick was arguably the best of his career, as he posted 1,502 yards and 14 touchdowns. Brown, on the other hand, has gone from 1,499 yards to 1,698 to 1,834 over the past three seasons. While Marshall and Fitzpatrick established good chemistry last year, no quarterback-receiver tandem today has been as effective as Brown and Ben Roethlisberger.

Brown has seen the challenge—and isn't backing down, per TMZ Sports: "He don't really wanna do that. He just wants some PR. He too old to be doing that...The RR is about $100k up [from the value of the Porsche]...If he really serious, call me...I'll gladly accept. Don't Internet it."

Game on.

UPDATE: Thursday, Dec. 29, at 12 p.m. ET by Andrew Gould

Looks like Brown was right. Marshall should not have done that.

While the Steelers wideout leads the NFL in receptions entering the final weekend, the Jets veteran has not reached 100 yards in a single game since their two teams met in Week 5.

Brown: 106 Receptions, 1,284 Receiving Yards, 12 Touchdowns

Marshall: 59 Receptions, 788 Receiving Yards, 3 Touchdowns

Barring a record-setting Week 17, Marshall will lose his car. Brown suggested Marshall donate the vehicle to Project 375, an organization he co-founded to raise mental-health awareness:
