Chelsea Transfer News: Latest on Carlos Tevez and Patrick Bamford Rumours

Rob BlanchetteJul 27, 2016

Former Manchester United and Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has revealed Chelsea have recently tried to win his signature after new coach Antonio Conte personally rang the Argentina player.

The mercurial attacker, who had phenomenal success during his spell in England, told Argentine radio station Radio La Red that Conte had been in contact in an attempt to "lure him" to Stamford Bridge (h/t George Bellshaw of Metro).

Tevez said: "The day after we lost Conte called me and asked if I wanted to come to Chelsea. I told him no."

The robust player signed for Conte during the pair's time at Juventus, sweeping Serie A in the process.

The 32-year-old returned to Argentina to join iconic club side Boca Juniors in 2015 after helping Juve to consistent success and silverware.

Tevez has previously won the Premier League with United and City and also collected a UEFA Champions League winner's medal with the Red Devils when they defeated the Blues in the 2007-08 final in Moscow.

Here is a video of the striker in action:

Tevez has continued to find the net after his return to his homeland, and has scored 22 goals across all competitions for Boca this term, according to ESPN FC.

It appears Tevez's heart belongs to Los Xeneizes and the Bombonera, and his full intentions were highlighted by Bleacher Report UK:

In other news, Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford is set to leave the Bridge on loan once again after failing to represent the Blues since signing from Nottingham Forest in 2012.

James Cambridge of the Express reported the player is tipped to move north of the border to Celtic after loan stints at MK Dons, Derby County, Middlesbrough, Crystal Palace and Norwich City.

Spanish newspaper Estadio Deportivo (h/t Cambridge) added Real Betis have shown interest in Bamford's services after a successful loan for Chelsea teen Charly Musonda.

Bamford appeared to be a bright prospect for the Blues, but it now seems his career will never take off in West London.

The player looked below the required standard for the Premier League during his loan spells at Norwich and Palace, and with his deal due to expire in 2018, per Cambridge, it is unlikely he will receive a new contract.

Tevez would have been an extraordinary capture for Conte, and his pedigree in English football is undoubted.

He proved himself to be one of Europe's finest strikers under Conte for the Old Lady and would have added power and work rate to the Chelsea attack if he deserted Boca.
