Lionel Messi Advice Revealed by Barcelona Youngster Franco Bartucci

Rory MarsdenJul 26, 2016

New Barcelona youth prospect Franco Bartucci has revealed the advice given to him by fellow Argentinian Lionel Messi before his successful trial with the Catalan giants.

Bartucci, one of Argentina's best young prospects, is set to join up with Barca's Juvenil B side on August 8 after his move from Estudiantes de la Plata, per Sport.

The 16-year-old was spotted during an Estudiantes tour of Spain and invited to trial with Barca. Clearly the striker impressed, and Bartucci said that Messi gave him some advice, which surely would have given him a huge boost, per Marca:

"

My dad came home from work and told me that he had been called [by Barcelona]. We had to go to Spain for a test and, as you can imagine for anyone who loves football, it was a very special time. [...]

When I first came to Spain I had butterflies in the stomach. Two days before training started I was a bit nervous but I said to myself "relax, do what I know and enjoy it." It was a unique experience, and one that won't be repeated.

As the moment [for the trial] approached I trained more. Messi is my idol and he spoke to me and said I should work hard because everything can be achieved with effort and commitment.

"

Messi is arguably the greatest player Barca's famed La Masia academy has ever produced, and the club will hope Bartucci can emulate his compatriot and hero.

However, the youngster himself is adamant he wants to blaze his own trail, per Marca: "I'm very motivated, that's one thing to compare [to Messi], but of course I want to write my own history."

Bartucci will undoubtedly be compared to Messi should he eventually advance to the senior team at the Camp Nou, and he will surely look to continue heeding the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's advice as he starts his Barca career.
