Manchester United Transfer News: Adnan Januzaj Eyed by David Moyes, Top Rumours

Christopher SimpsonJul 25, 2016

New Sunderland manager David Moyes is reportedly interested in bringing Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj to the Stadium of Light.

According to MailOnline's Craig Hope, the former Red Devils manager "is set to enquire" about the Belgian, with the Black Cats having been interested in him since last summer.

The playmaker endured a torrid time last season, spending the first half of the campaign struggling to make an impact at Borussia Dortmund and the latter being ignored by Louis van Gaal, playing just 17 minutes of Premier League football upon his return.

It was under Moyes that the 21-year-old burst on to the scene, scoring and assisting four goals apiece in the 2013-14 season as he made 27 league appearances, but as last year demonstrated he's struggled to kick on since.

Stuart Mathieson of the Manchester Evening News spared a thought for Januzaj amid the recent shirt-number changes at Old Trafford:

While the youngster still has plenty of time to kick-start his career, it will be difficult to do that at Old Trafford next season.

As ESPN's Alex Shaw noted, United have an array of attacking options:

The Red Devils also have Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Memphis Depay and Jesse Lingard—it's difficult to see Januzaj getting any significant minutes unless at least one or two of them are moved on.

A move away seems like the best option for the player, and Moyes has shown faith in him in the past—he could be handed an important role with the Black Cats.

Meanwhile, according to Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte (h/t Metro's Max Miller), United will reportedly go head-to-head with Manchester City for Palmeiras starlet Gabriel Jesus, and they are prepared to pay £29.3 million—more than his £20 million release clause—to secure him ahead of their rivals.

The 19-year-old sensation has been in outstanding form this season, per WhoScored.com:

Indeed, along with his 11 goals and three assists in 14 league outings, he has also netted four goals in five Copa Libertadores matches.

Football journalist Rafael Hernandez has been impressed with the forward:

While the youngster looks to have great potential, just as with Januzaj, it's difficult to see him playing a significant role at Old Trafford next season, unless Jose Mourinho is prepared to cast aside some of those already at the club.

It seems fairly likely the Brazilian could be on the move this summer, but United aren't the obvious destination.
