Jaguars Not Ready to Sign Hardy Yet
Monday, July 25
Jaguars general manager David Caldwell told reporters (per John Oehser of Jaguars.com) that Hardy's workout was "about doing homework on the player," adding that no signing was imminent.
Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reported on July 22 that Jacksonville won't sign Hardy yet, despite his fit on the defense:

Hardy Was a PR Headache for Cowboys in 2015
The Dallas Cowboys took a chance on Hardy last year—a move that came with heavy scrutiny.
At the time of Hardy's signing, the public was aware of the general details of a May 2014 domestic incident involving him. After initially being found guilty by a North Carolina judge, the assault charges against the 27-year-old were dismissed last February when his accuser didn't appear in court.
According to the Associated Press (via USA Today), District Attorney Andrew Murray said "the woman had settled her civil suit against Hardy."
Then, in November, Deadspin's Diana Moskovitz (warning: link contains graphic images and profanity) shared the full evidence against Hardy from the assault trial.
In addition to the public relations nightmare Moskovitz's report brought the Cowboys, they had to explain his more minor infractions, which included showing up late for workouts and confrontational behavior on the sideline. Cole reported Hardy partied in excess throughout the 2015 season as well.
Jacksonville signed Malik Jackson to a six-year, $85.5 million deal and will have a healthy Dante Fowler Jr. after he lost his entire rookie year to injury. Despite that, the team could still use an upgrade at defensive end.
Signing Hardy at this stage of his career means assuming his off-field history and the public perception around it. One has to question whether the headache would be worth it for the Jaguars.
