WWE Draft Results: Power Ranking Every NXT Star Drafted to Raw, SmackDown Roster

The Doctor Chris MuellerJul 21, 2016

Tuesday's draft left the WWE roster split between Raw and SmackDown, but the people who benefited the most were the eight Superstars brought up from NXT.

Four men and four women were called up. Some of the choices were predictable, but a few caught the WWE Universe off guard.

Unfortunately, none of the NXT talents made their debut on SmackDown during the draft, so we will have to wait until at least next week to see how they are inserted into current storylines.

This slideshow will rank each of the NXT Superstars who were drafted to Raw and SmackDown based on how well they have done in the developmental system and their potential for success on the main roster.

7. Eva Marie

1 of 7

Out of all the people in NXT who could have been drafted, nobody expected Eva Marie to be chosen over someone like Bayley or Asuka.

There's no denying how hard Marie has worked in the past two years to improve in the ring and on the mic, but she still has a long way to go before she can be considered on the same level as the rest of the women's division.

However, she does have the ability to generate more heat than the sun, so she definitely has value as a villain.

Sometimes it takes being thrown right into the fire for someone to ascend to the next level, so maybe being brought up to the main roster is exactly what Marie needs to up her game. Time will tell.

6. Mojo Rawley

2 of 7

Mojo Rawley was one of the biggest surprises in the draft, but being put on the same show as Zack Ryder gives us the possibility of seeing The Hype Bros compete on the main roster.

Teaming with Long Island Iced Z has been great for Rawley because he has been able to learn from Ryder's experience and become more focused on improving every aspect of his game.

WWE had to bring up some midcard developmental stars so the main event scene wasn't completely ransacked during the draft, so Rawley was a good choice.

If Ryder fails to win the United States Championship from Rusev, we should expect to see The Hype Bros chasing the tag titles before the end of the year.

5. Alexa Bliss

3 of 7

Alexa Bliss may seem like another pretty face on the surface, but her athleticism is going to help her stand out from all the other attractive blondes on the roster.

Bliss' experience as a cheerleader gives her the kind of agility she needs to build an exciting arsenal of offensive maneuvers a lot of other women aren't capable of performing.

In addition to her athletic ability, she has also improved on the mic quite a bit ever since she turned heel and joined Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy.

Bliss is exactly what management wants in a female Superstar, and hopefully she is given the chance to prove her worth as a potential women's champion without being lost among the more established talents on the main roster.

4. Nia Jax

4 of 7

Nia Jax still has a long way to go before anyone will consider her a top contender for the WWE Women's Championship, but she was still a good draft pick for Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley.

Jax's 6'0, 272-pound frame alone will make her a force to be reckoned with, and her power will help mask any technical shortcomings she still has to work out.

WWE hasn't had a monster in the women's division for a long time, and Jax fits the bill perfectly. Her presence will add some variety, and she will always be viewed as a threat due to her strength advantage over every other women in the company.

It would be wise for WWE to pair her up with someone more experienced to help coach her until she is capable of dominating the division on her own.

3. American Alpha

5 of 7

The only tag team drafted from NXT is far and away the best the developmental system had to offer.

Jason Jordan and Chad Gable have produced some incredible matches with teams like The Revival and Team BAMF, and now they get to test their mettle against all the great tandems on the main roster.

Their patriotic gimmick has brought about comparison to Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas, but if they keep going the way they have been in recent months, Jordan and Gable will establish their own reputation as a great team without being compared to anyone else.

It won't take long for American Alpha to prove their worth, and it wouldn't be surprising to see them go after the Tag Team Championships as early as SummerSlam.

2. Carmella

6 of 7

Unfortunately for Carmella, she was drafted to SmackDown away from Enzo and Cass on Raw, but this will allow her to forge her own path.

Despite never winning the NXT Women's Championship, Carmella has been one of the top faces in the division ever since Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch were called up.

She has attitude to spare and enough wrestling ability to keep up with anyone she is put in the ring with. She is the only one who can stand in her own way at this point.

We should expect Carmella to get a warm welcome from the WWE Universe when she finally makes her SmackDown debut.

1. Finn Balor

7 of 7

Out of all the people the commissioners could have drafted from NXT, Finn Balor was always going to be the biggest get for either brand.

Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley snatched him up for Raw, which is great news for The Demon, since it means he will be featured front and center on the flagship show.

If you have never watched NXT, you have missed out on Balor's unique wrestling style and over-the-top entrance and body paint during TakeOver events.

His popularity could lead to him being pushed right into the main event scene. He has all the tools needed to be successful, he just needs an opportunity.

It's going to be interesting to see if he is paired up with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson to keep The Club going while AJ Styles is on SmackDown.

What did you think of all the NXT draft picks? Were you upset Bayley wasn't brought up to the main roster? Did you feel someone else deserved to be drafted?
