Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest on Andre Gomes Deal and Paul Pogba Rumours
Real Madrid are closing in on the capture of Valencia starlet Andre Gomes as they hope to beat a host of European clubs to the talented midfielder's signature.
Marca's Carlos Carpio (adapted by Joseph Sexton) wrote Los Blancos will offer €50 million up front for the Portugal international and an additional €5-10 million in "performance-related extras." Gomes has been courted by a number of large teams including Juventus, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Chelsea.
The player appeared at Euro 2016 for his country as they went on to win the coveted trophy, but Gomes suffered with injury and a lack of form last term as Los Che plummeted down La Liga.

The young prodigy, who can play across all of the midfield positions in the opposition half, featured in 30 Spanish Primera Division games last season, scoring three goals, according to WhoScored.com.
Carpio said Zinedine Zidane sees Gomes as "the perfect alternative to Luka Modric" in the centre of the park and "his long-term heir in the starting XI."
The Galacticos will have to decide if they will enter a bidding war with Manchester United for the services of Paul Pogba if Zidane wants to also add his compatriot to his midfield at the Bernabeu Stadium.

Fabrizio Romano and Marcus Christenson of the Guardian reported the Red Devils are in advanced talks with the player as they prepare a £100 million world-record bid for their former youth star. United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward didn't travel with the team to their pre-season training in China, fuelling rumours of a bid.
However, on Tuesday, super-agent Mino Raiola categorically denied his client will be arriving at Old Trafford anytime soon, per Goal's Kris Voakes.
Zidane recently answered questions about his desire to obtain Pogba and the quality of his current squad, per Romano and Christenson:
"I am happy with the squad I have got and it’s difficult to improve on it. Do I like Pogba? Of course, he’s a very good player and every club wants the best players but right now he’s at Juve and we have a large squad already.
There are still lots of players yet to join up with the squad and with the Euros going on we couldn’t do anything. We have three games coming up and that’s the focus at the moment.
"

Pogba is ready to make the next step in his career but, for once, Madrid might be priced out of a transfer as United make a statement of intent.
Gomes is a good fit for Zidane, and his La Liga experience will prepare him for life in the Spanish capital.
The player did not impress last season, but if he can regain his top form and be patient at Real, he could become one of the club's most important players over time.
However, a €60 million deal for the midfielder looks heavily overpriced, especially as he would struggle to get into the starting XI with Modric currently pulling the strings.
