Liverpool Transfer News: Georginio Wijnaldum, Ragnar Klavan, Latest Reds Rumours
Liverpool are reportedly preparing to enter the fray for Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum following the Magpies' relegation to the Championship.
According to MailOnline's Dominic King, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are among those interested in the Dutchman, but the Reds are "determined to make their presence felt" in the race to sign him.
The 25-year-old was Newcastle's top scorer last season with 11 goals and among their most creative with five assists from 48 chances created, per Squawka.

Goal's Melissa Reddy is an admirer of his talents:
Indeed, the Netherlands international is a fine player and could be an excellent signing for the Reds.
However, it's worth remembering that four of his 11 goals came in one spectacular game against Norwich City.
More importantly, after bringing in Sadio Mane to join Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino behind Daniel Sturridge, there's little room for another attacking midfielder.
The Dutchman is excellent going forward, but he's not a natural central midfielder—he lacks the work rate and discipline needed to operate there, particularly if he's to be one of just two players in the middle.
Bleacher Report UK's Karl Matchett explained the difficulty in fitting him in the side:
Ultimately, unless he's happy to sit on the bench and provide an alternative to one of the Reds' first-choice attacking midfielders—and there's little to suggest he would be—signing him wouldn't be worth it.

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly pursuing further defensive cover with Mamadou Sakho and Joe Gomez set to miss the start of the season, and King reported the man chosen for the job is experienced Augsburg campaigner Ragnar Klavan.
As demonstrated by football journalist Artur Petrosyan, the Estonian is highly regarded in his home country, for whom he has appeared 108 times:
The Reds are reportedly set to snap Klavan up for just £5 million. A reliable performer, the 30-year-old is more than capable of being a back-up to Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip until Sakho and Gomez return to fitness.
King adds that Liverpool have been unable to agree a fee with Leicester City for young left-back Ben Chilwell, though.

The 19-year-old impressed for the Foxes in two matches against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup last season.
However, along with a Capital One Cup outing against Hull City, he has only played three senior games for Leicester and eight in the Championship on loan at Huddersfield Town.
While he looked like an excellent prospect, it's too early to spend significant money on him on the back of so few performances.
