Gomez Return Delayed Again

The Liverpool Echo's James Pearce confirmed on Friday that Gomez looked set to miss the start of the upcoming season after sitting out almost all of the 2015-16 campaign due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
It's mentioned Gomez's Achilles setback may even force manager Jurgen Klopp to invest in a new central defender this summer, despite the arrival of former Schalke 04 talisman Joel Matip.
Gomez was brought to Anfield from Charlton Athletic by former Reds chief Brendan Rodgers last summer, and the youngster was quickly pinpointed as a star signing following his superb performances at left-back.
Klopp will have undoubtedly been eager to get to grips with the 19-year-old's talent, but this blow means the German will have to wait until he can assess his qualities to the fullest.
Liverpool are also in need of faces at centre-back after Kolo Toure was released from the club and Martin Skrtel completed his move to Fenerbahce.
Gomez has made just seven first-team appearances for the Reds to date, per Transfermarkt, but the England under-21 international has been tipped for a bright future on Merseyside.
