Charles Barkley Says He Turned Down an Offer of $3 Million to 'Do Tweets'

Laura DeptaJul 13, 2016

TNT personality and NBA legend Charles Barkley has made no secret of his disdain for social media.

In November, he said on ESPN's Mike & Mike, "I do zero social media because I think that's where losers go to feel important," per Dan Cahill of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Barkley reiterated his stance during an appearance on The Dan Le Batard Show on Tuesday. He assured Le Batard and listeners he would not join social media, no matter the upside.

Per Dave Lozo of Uproxx, Barkley said, "I've had some knockdown, drag-outs with my employers about social media, and I've been offered as much as $3 million to do tweets. I said, 'Y'all can't pay me enough to tweet.'"

$3 million is a lot of money, but it's not enough to compromise Sir Charles' principles.

He added, "I will never tweet. I will never do Instagram or any type of social media. Most people are great, I believe, but there are some evil people that sit behind a computer and feel like they can say anything to anybody."

Can't argue with that.
