Former Clemson Basketball Player Demontez Stitt Dies at Age 27

Former Clemson Tigers guard Demontez Stitt died at the age of 27 Wednesday, according to David Hood of TigerNet.com. 

The school released the following statement on Twitter with regard to Stitt's death:

Stitt played four seasons at Clemson from 2007-08 through 2010-11, appearing in four consecutive NCAA tournaments. He averaged 10.8 points and 3.3 assists during his collegiate career and is sixth on Clemson's all-time assists list.

Former Clemson football standout and current San Diego Chargers offensive lineman Chris Hairston tweeted the following in memory of Stitt:

Stitt was a North Carolina native who went undrafted out of college, but he enjoyed a strong professional career in Europe.

He played in Israel, Turkey, Belgium and Kosovo following his four-year stint at Clemson. Stitt most recently played for Orkide Gediz Universitesi of the Turkish Basketball League last season, averaging 19 points and 5.1 assists per game.
