The Miz vs. Darren Young Announced for WWE Battleground 2016
Darren Young was the last man standing in Monday's Battle Royal on WWE Raw to determine the No. 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship.
As a result, Young will challenge The Miz for the IC title at Battleground on July 24. WWE shared his celebration in the ring with Bob Backlund:

Young's win came as a surprise considering his involvement on Raw of late had been limited to his pre-taped segments with Backlund:
Before Monday, he had wrestled just once on Raw in 2016—in another multiman Battle Royal, which determined the No. 1 contender for the United States Championship. Despite having a small presence as an in-ring competitor this year, he's now challenging for the Intercontinental Championship.
The nature of his victory on Monday didn't help Young build much momentum, either. He prevailed after Baron Corbin and Apollo Crews took each other over the top rope.
Both WWE Creative Humor and former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas were critical of the finish:
If WWE is planning to have Young and The Miz feud over the IC title, it's doubtful a title change will happen at Battleground. The Miz dropping the belt to Young would feel anticlimactic since the two wrestlers will have had little time to build any sort of narrative in their rivalry.
Plus, SummerSlam is a little over a month away. That would be a more meaningful moment for Young to capture the Intercontinental Championship—and similar to Zack Ryder's title triumph at WrestleMania 32.
