Liverpool Transfer News: Anderson Talisca, Mario Gotze, Piotr Zielinski Rumours

Christopher SimpsonJul 11, 2016

Benfica playmaker Anderson Talisca is reportedly pushing for a move to Liverpool this summer.

According to Bruno Andrade of Portuguese newspaper O Jogo (h/t the Mirror's Aaron Flanagan), Talisca is "preparing himself for a move away" this summer and hopes to end up in the Premier League, telling his friends that Liverpool are the club he'd like to join.

The 22-year-old struggled to cement his place in Benfica's team last year and was often restricted to cameo appearances from the bench, finishing the campaign with nine goals in all competitions and one assist.

Portuguese football writer Jan Hagen isn't an admirer of the midfielder and does not believe a move to Anfield will be forthcoming:

Indeed, Andrade (h/t Flanagan) further notes "there is little indication" Liverpool are set to make an offer for him.

While there is potential for him to improve and Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has a track record of getting the best out of his players, there are far better options out there this summer.

In other news, Liverpool are pulling out of the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze but still hope to sign Udinese's Piotr Zielinski, per the Liverpool Echo's James Pearce.

The Reds will reportedly face competition for his signature from AC Milan, though Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo said, according to Milannews.it (h/t Calciomercato): "Zielinski has attracted the interest of many clubs, including AC Milan. I can say no more. We had agreement with Napoli but they failed to find agreement with the player. We have to say how things will develop in the future. What’s for sure is that each party must be satisfy before closing the deal."

Calciomercato added that Rossoneri vice-president Adriano Galliani met with Pozzo on Saturday to enquire about the midfielder.

Gianluca Di Marzio's David Amoyal believes he has garnered impressive experience despite only turning 22 in May:

The Poland international had an impressive season on loan at Empoli, scoring five goals and assisting six. Here are some of his highlights:

Zielinski is a creative box-to-box midfielder who also possesses a strong work ethic and does not shirk his defensive responsibilities.

According to Squawka, he created 52 chances last season and showed off his dribbling skills with 89 completed take-ons, while he helped his side regain possession with 54 successful tackles and 49 interceptions.

With his willingness to close down opponents and dynamic play in the centre, he'd be a good fit at Anfield under Klopp, and it's evident his technical skills are up to par as well.

Anfield seems to be his preferred destination, according to Pearce, so the club should exploit his desire to play for them in their pursuit of his capture.
