Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to have a date with destiny at the Euro 2016 final, but after a clash with Dimitri Payet, the Portugal star was unable to continue.
Social media was a sombre place as Ronaldo was withdrawn from the match against France—but Twitter is a place with zero chill, and soon enough, people were poking fun, too.

The stadium had been taken over by moths in the buildup to the final, and Ronaldo, as he started to realise his match was over, had one of them land on his face.

Shortly thereafter, the moth created its own account. Actually, strike that—it opened multiple accounts, and one of them had over 20,000 followers at the time of writing. Already.
