Matador Victor Barrio Dies from Bullfight Injuries at Age 29

Matador Victor Barrio died Saturday after being gored by a bull during a bullfight in Teruel, Spain, per the BBC.

The bull's horn pierced Barrio, 29, in his chest. The incident was broadcast live as Spanish television provided coverage of the Feria del Angel festival.

According to The Independent's Will Worley, bystanders quickly came to Barrio's aid, and he was sent to a hospital before dying from the injury.

A little over three decades had passed since the last matador death in Spain (Jose Cubero in 1985).
