
Williams vs. Vesnina: Score, Highlights from Wimbledon Semifinals 2016
No. 1 Serena Williams def. Elena Vesnina 6-2, 6-0.
No. 1 Serena Williams needed 48 minutes to secure a spot in the Wimbledon ladies' final on Thursday as she dominated unseeded Russian player Elena Vesnina.
The No. 1 seed in the ladies' singles draw asserted her dominance from the start as she broke Vesnina on the first service game of the first set.
After Williams recorded a second break in the opening set, Vesnina attempted to gain a foothold as he she won two games, but it was not enough to contend with the top-ranked player in the game.
Williams delivered a punch to the gut at the start of the second set as she broke Vesnina at 15-40. From that point on, the No. 1 seed used powerful serves, terrific movement and a few splendid winners to put away the match.
Williams will face either No. 4 Angelique Kerber or No. 8 Venus Williams in Saturday's final.
