Simmons Leaves During 4th Quarter of Summer-League Game

Monday, July 4

Brian Seltzer of the Sixers.com reported the details on Simmons' status after this year's No. 1 overall draft pick went down.

Simmons will miss the team's game against the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, reported Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia InquirerScott Howard-Cooper of NBA TV reported that even if Simmons hadn't experienced the cramps, he "probably" still would have rested on Tuesday.

The Associated Press' Kareem Copeland captured a photo of the scene in Salt Lake City:

Simmons' injury could've been worse and shouldn't be alarming for Philadelphia fans, despite the initial scare.

The 19-year-old phenom flashed his supreme potential against Boston, putting up 10 points, eight rebounds and five assists with only one turnover.

Although the LSU product missed seven of nine shots from the floor, he drained all six of his free-throw attempts. Simmons' prowess as a distributor was on full display as well:

The Sixers' official Twitter account shared another one of his highlights from Monday's game:

Christian Wood came off Philadelphia's bench Monday and led all scorers with 20 points in 15 minutes. He figures to play a larger role as the Sixers ease Simmons back onto the hardwood.
