Chris Smalling Fainted, Hospitalised from Food Poisoning During Holiday
Manchester United issued a statement on Monday to confirm Chris Smalling had suffered food poisoning and fainted while on holiday in Bali.
Images emerged on social media of the defender in hospital, prompting concerns about his condition. The Red Devils cleared up the situation on their official website:
"[United] can clarify [Smalling] has had food poisoning during his holiday which resulted in him fainting on Sunday.
The 26-year-old defender was taken to the hospital and is now feeling fine.
Smalling is currently on vacation in Bali following his time with England at Euro 2016 before reporting back for pre-season training later this month.
Chris would like to thank everyone for their well wishes.

Metro Sport shared the image of the bandaged player on a bed signing some merchandise:
Smalling is on holiday earlier than many would have expected; he was part of the England side that suffered a shock elimination at the hands of Iceland in the round of 16 at the UEFA European Championship in France. The United man played in all four of the Three Lions’ matches at the tournament.
On the domestic front, the centre-back enjoyed a strong campaign in 2015-16, forming a key part of a solid United defence. Since the Red Devils' new boss Jose Mourinho has earned a reputation as a defensive mastermind, Smalling will no doubt be excited to work under the Portuguese ahead of the 2016-17 season.
