Arsenal Transfer News: Latest on Alexandre Lacazette and Sofiane Boufal Rumours
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed the club are hoping to sign "one or two more players" this summer and is reportedly set to meet "a host of French agents this week," including Sofiane Boufal's, but he won't comment on speculation linking the Gunners with a move for Alexandre Lacazette.
According to Chinese outlet Tencent (h/t the Daily Star's Jamie Anderson), after signing Granit Xhaka, Wenger is planning to dip into the transfer market again before the summer is up: "We've already bought one player—[Xhaka]—from [Borussia] Monchengladbach, because we've lost three players. So we've bought one midfielder and we're still in the market to buy one or two more players."

However, he wouldn't be drawn on the possibility of signing Lyon striker Lacazette, per French TV station Canal+ Sport (h/t Marc Williams of the Daily Star): "I can neither confirm or deny interest [in him]. If I say that I like the player it starts speculation."
On Saturday, the Mirror's Steve Stammers linked Arsenal with a £45 million move for the Frenchman.
The forward netted 23 goals in all competitions last season, though given the wealth of attacking talent available to Didier Deschamps, he wasn't called up to France's UEFA Euro 2016 squad.
French football journalist Julien Laurens is a huge admirer of his talents, though:
Indeed, a pacey forward and instinctive finisher, Lacazette could be the man Arsenal need to put away the chances they create.
As WhoScored.com illustrated, the 25-year-old is clinical inside the area:
Per Planete Lyon (h/t Ligue 1 writer Mohammed Ali), he'd seemingly be open to a move to a team such as the Gunners:
He'd likely require a huge transfer fee to prise him away from Lyon—as Stammers reported—but Arsenal sorely need more firepower, and a prolific striker entering the prime years of his career certainly fits the bill.
Meanwhile, according to Get French Football News, Wenger is holding talks with a number of French agents. Perhaps including Boufal, according to the Guardian's Ed Aarons:
The winger enjoyed a strong campaign with Lille, racking up 11 goals and four assists. According to Squawka, he was the fourth-most creative player in Ligue 1 with 69 chances laid on for his team-mates, so had they been more clinical he would have assisted many more.
Here are some of his highlights:
The 22-year-old's dribbling is almost second to none, and his pace and technique can stretch defences to the breaking point.
However, he's still a rough diamond in need of polishing—he also has a tendency to try too much, when it would be easier and more effective to lay the ball off to a team-mate.
His talent is unquestionable, though, and his ability to score from the flanks is a useful trait—given the right coaching and if he's willing to put the work in, he could be a true superstar.
