
Swimming 2016 Olympic Trials: Sunday Live Results and Analysis
The Swimming Trials were full of excitement on Sunday night. Several young, rising stars stamped their tickets to Rio while other formidable opponents found nothing but disappointment.
After looking unstoppable this morning, Ryan Lochte faded in the stretch of the Men's 400 IM while two fresh faces, Chase Kalisz and Jay Litherland, established themselves as forces to be reckoned with in Rio.
Later in the program, Connor Jaeger and Conor Dwyer finished 1-2 in the Men's 400 Freesytle and earned their spot on the Olympic Team. The thrills continued with Kevin Courdes in the Men's 100M Breaststroke with a sizzling time of :58.94.
For the women, There were little surprises in the Women's 100M Butterfly when defending Gold Medalist Dana Vollmer moved on to the final heat with a strong victory. Maya Dirado, after nearly quitting in 2012, is now a first-time Olympian after winning the Women's 400IM over veteran three-time Olympic competitor Elizabeth Bleisel.
There is plenty of Olympic Trial action still to come tomorrow, featuring the Women's 400M Freestyle Finals as well as the Women's 100M Backstoke and 100M Breaststrok semifnals. 2012 London Games heroine Missy Franklin will be back in action as well as rising star Katie Ledecky.
