Manchester United Transfer News: Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Julian Draxler Rumours
Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, per Fabrizio Romano and Marcus Christenson of the Guardian.
The Armenian has just one year left on his contract at Westfalenstadion and has expressed a desire to play in the Premier League despite being offered a more lucrative deal at Dortmund.
To prevent Mkhitaryan from leaving as a free agent next summer, the Bundesliga outfit may be forced to cash in over the coming months, and United are said to be preparing a £30 million bid to lure the midfielder to Old Trafford.

The powers that be at Manchester United expect such an offer to be enough to get their man, although it seems they’ll need to make room for him in the ranks.

According to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, new manager Jose Mourinho could offload Bastian Schweinsteiger this summer to create a gap in the roster, while the likes of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera aren’t safe, either.
Even so, whichever player does leave Old Trafford will be making room for one with bags of potential.
Mkhitaryan was one of Dortmund’s standout performers in the 2015/16 campaign, scoring 11 league goals and creating 15 more, per WhoScored.com.
He’s one of the most creative players in the German top flight and the kind of midfielder who sees passes that others wouldn’t even think of.
Here’s a reminder of what the 27-year-old can bring to the table:
Romano and Christenson write that United are looking to get the deal over the line within the next week and are set to offer Mkhitaryan a four- or five-year deal at Old Trafford.
United have options if that deal doesn’t go through, however, as Paul Hetherington of the Daily Star reports that the Red Devils are in talks with Wolfsburg over Julian Draxler.
Draxler is currently on UEFA Euro 2016 duty with Germany, but United have wasted no time in laying their cards on the table and have apparently made a £30 million bid for his services.
The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in the Bundesliga, and Wolfsburg will have a big task hanging on to him if he wants to head to Manchester United.
It’s an exciting time to be a United fan. Not only do they have one of the most successful managers in history at the helm, but they’re showing real ambition in the transfer market.
If they can tempt some world-class players to Old Trafford and release some of the deadwood, they’ll be a real force in 2016/17.
