Hockey Hall of Famer and Boston Bruins great Ray Bourque was arrested Friday on OUI charges, according to the Boston Globe's Felicia Gans and Alexandra Koktsidis.

WCVB initially reported Saturday that Bourque was arrested for a DWI. Bourque posted bail after he was involved in a two-car crash, per WCVB. Citing the police, WCVB noted there were no injuries reported.

Gans and Koktsidis reported: "Bourque was driving a Mercedes-Benz GL450 through a construction zone on Route 133 at about 11:30 p.m. when it rear-ended a Toyota Sienna minivan," according to the police's statement.

The statement also noted Bourque was formally charged with "operating under the influence of liquor and with following too closely to another vehicle."

TMZ Sports reported on Monday that Bourque's alcohol level was .249 and that he pleaded not guilty during Monday's court appearance.

Bourque released a statement regarding the news on Sunday, via Celebrity Marketing Inc:

"

For the first time in my life, I find myself in unfamiliar territory. I am not happy about the situation I put myself into on Friday Night. I am a very proud person that accepts the responsibility of my actions and have always accepted being in the media eye. I have used this popularity to try and positively impact as many lives as possible. I am happy that no one was hurt in the accident and thank everyone who has reached out in support of my family and me. Please be patient as I go through this process and respect my family and my privacy.

"

A five-time Norris Trophy winner and 19-time All-Star, Bourque finished his career with 410 goals and 1,169 assists, per Hockey-Reference.com.

The 2000-01 Stanley Cup champion ranks fourth on the NHL's all-time assists list and first in career goals among defensemen.
