Barcelona Transfer News: Paulo Dybala Weighs in on Paul Pogba Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenJun 25, 2016

Juventus star Paulo Dybala is confident team-mate Paul Pogba will not leave Turin for Barcelona, Real Madrid or Manchester United during the summer transfer window, telling reporters he has spoken to the Frenchman and he's “certain he's staying.”

Pogba's future has once again become a hotly debated topic in recent weeks, and former Barcelona star Eric Abidal urged him to pick the Catalans over rivals Real during a recent interview with Cadena COPE (h/t FourFourTwo).

Per Rob Dawson of the Manchester Evening News, Pogba's agent Mino Raiola added United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain to the list of clubs that would interest him, but Dybala is confident all of those teams will miss out on the 23-year-old, as he told Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Gianluca Di Marzio's David Amoyal):

"

Juventus is a great team exactly like Real, Bayern Munich and Barcelona. Two seasons ago they came very close to winning Champions League final, last season we were eliminated by Bayern in last 30 seconds. Pogba? I know him, he's very serene and calm, when he was criticized at Juve he came out of it and gave his best. I'm certain that he's staying. I spoke to him and in my opinion he's staying. We didn't talk about football but I can feel it.

"

Dybala has been the subject of transfer speculation himself, as Mundo Deportivo (h/t Football Espana) said Barcelona will try to land his signature if Neymar leaves the club. Such a move is unlikely, however, as the Argentina international only joined the Bianconeri last summer.

A Pogba transfer seems more likely, although Juventus maintain they have no intention of selling their star midfielder. The Frenchman is seemingly linked with a move away from the Juventus Stadium during every single window, and things aren't any different in the summer of 2016.

As reported by AS (via Spanish football expert Guillem Balague), Juventus' reported asking price is enormous, and Real, who have been linked with Pogba the most, do not want to meet their valuation:

Pogba has developed into one of the world's most coveted midfielders since moving to Juventus from United on a free transfer in 2012, and despite his young age, he's already regarded as one of the best in his position in the sport.

Blessed with remarkable physical tools, technique, vision and a superb strike from distance, he's a complete midfielder who should find success in any team or league. Consistency can be an issue, and Pogba has a tendency to overcomplicate matters on the pitch, but those are typical issues for younger players and things he should overcome.

Here's a look at some of his highlights:

Juventus don't have the financial power to match the likes of Real, Barcelona and United as far as wages go, but in terms of raw talent on the pitch, they're very close to the elites of European football.

The squad is filled with young, talented players like Pogba, Dybala and Daniele Rugani, and the future of the team looks incredibly bright. It's the Old Lady's biggest asset in transfer negotiations―players know they'll contend for silverware in the coming years if they stay or join the club.

The same goes for Barcelona and Real Madrid, arguably the two best clubs in football today. Premier League clubs are behind those two in the pecking order, but their financial might is a big factor on the transfer market.

Football writer and United fan Nooruddean Choudry doesn't think his team has any chance of signing Pogba, however:

Neither does Dybala, who knows Pogba better than most pundits and developed a strong connection with his team-mate during his first year in Turin. The two frequently celebrated their goals together and were constantly photographed side-by-side off the pitch.

These comments from Dybala don't guarantee Pogba won't be leaving anytime soon, but amid the constant stream of transfer speculation, it's probably the best news Juventus fans have heard in days on that front.
