How will the United States respond from a 4-0 loss to Argentina in the semifinals on Tuesday? That is the big question fans of the team are wondering heading into this tough matchup. On the other side, how motivated will Colombia, the small betting favorite to come out on top, be coming off a 2-0 setback against Chile on Wednesday?

While third place in the tourney is on the line here, both teams obviously wish they were playing Sunday instead. If anything, the Americans will again have home-field advantage in Glendale. How much that edge will actually impact final outcome remains to be seen, as the hosts had played well at times on their home turf before falling to the Argentinians.

One key change for the United States will come in goal, where veteran netminder Tim Howard will replace Brad Guzan, who had started the team’s previous nine games. Head coach Jurgen Klinsmann told reporters he wanted to reward Howard for his hard work and dedication to the squad, which could get a boost if his teammates can find a way to fire shots at his counterpart, David Ospina.

The Americans were outshot 10-0 by Argentina and 13-12 by Colombia in the first meeting. However, they managed only two shots on goal versus the Colombians, who fired seven on Guzan.

Ospina has started every game of the tourney for Colombia outside of a 3-2 loss to Costa Rica, which ultimately kept them from winning Group A. His play will be important in this game, and whoever performs better between him and Howard will likely end up on the winning side.

Even though the loss to Argentina was disappointing, it was also expected for the United States. This game for third place is more important to the Americans, whose best finish ever in Copa America was fourth in 1995. Look for them to find a way to pull off the small upset.

Colombia vs. USA Prediction: 2-1 USA
