Men's Gymnastics 2016 Olympic Trials: Thursday Live Results and Analysis
There's one more night to go before the U.S. Men's gymnastics team is set for Rio.
The first night of Olympic Trials got off to a shaky start for Sam Mikulak, but America's top gymnast recovered nicely as the night progressed.
Mikulak is in first place with a score of 90.650, and that gives him a lead of more than a full point over Chris Brooks.
Dannel Leyva was shaky in the national championships earlier this month, but he was strong and consistent in the first night of competition in the Olympic Trials.
Five of the competitors will be named to the Olympic team at the end of the competition Saturday night. While the scores will play a major role, the gymnastics committee will get together and vote for the final team members.
While that's somewhat controversial, the goal of the committee is to put together a strong team that meshes together for the Olympics in August.
