Liverpool Transfer News: Ben Chilwell, Joe Allen, Mahmoud Dahoud, Latest Rumours
Liverpool have reportedly had a £7 million bid rejected for Leicester City’s young left-back Ben Chilwell.
That’s according to James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo, who stated the package of £5 million plus a further £2 million in add-ons was deemed not sufficient by the Premier League champions. It’s suggested the Foxes will not accept an offer that amounts to anything less than their own £10 million valuation.
“Liverpool are now considering whether to up their offer for a defender who only has one year remaining on his current contract or focus their attention on alternative options,” added Pearce. “Reds boss Jurgen Klopp wants to bring in Chilwell to compete with Alberto Moreno for the left-back spot.”

Chilwell, 19, is considered to be one of the brightest young players at the Foxes, having impressed during a loan spell with Huddersfield Town last term.
FourFourTwo’s Seb Stafford-Bloor, thought the left-back shone at the recent Toulon Tournament as well:
Moreno wasn’t a popular figure with a lot of Liverpool supporters after some poor displays towards the back end of the season, culminating in a disastrous showing in the UEFA Europa League final against Sevilla.
Chilwell isn’t ready to be immediately thrown into a Premier League starting lineup, but he has shown enough in his brief appearances to suggest he will be a handy full-back once he’s developed.
A fee of £10 million may seem plenty for a 19-year-old, but Klopp could have a lot of longevity in the left-back spot should Chilwell progress as anticipated.
Joe Allen Set to Depart, Mahmoud Dahoud Blow

According to Pearce, Joe Allen looks set to leave Anfield this summer despite his superb form for Wales at the 2016 UEFA European Championship.
The midfielder has one year left on his contract with Liverpool, and it’s noted that no new deal has been offered to the 26-year-old yet. “Even if there was an offer, it’s doubtful that he would be in a rush to put pen to paper,” Pearce wrote, stating that the player wants to be featuring on a regular basis.
Swansea City, Allen’s former club, are said to be favourites to sign the Wales international for a second spell at the club. These numbers from Squawka Football suggest he’d be a useful capture:
Liverpool’s hopes of potentially replacing Allen with Borussia Monchengladbach star Mahmoud Dahoud look slim, though.
According to Chris Bascombe of the Daily Telegraph, “hopes are fading” that a deal can be done for the player, with the Bundesliga side said to be reluctant to sell the 20-year-old.

Gladbach have already cashed in on their key midfield man Granit Xhaka this summer and to lose Dahoud as well would be a significant blow. As noted by OptaFranz, the Germany youth international is relentless in his work rate:
Central midfield is going to be a key area for Liverpool next season. With Marko Grujic also joining up with the squad, there will be a lot of options to choose from, so perhaps it’s understandable that despite being an effective player to have in the squad, Allen would prefer to move elsewhere where he can become a more significant member of a team.
Dahoud would be better off continuing to develop in the Bundesliga. He’s a superb prospect and would be a huge coup for the Reds if a deal was struck. Nevertheless, the youngster will be handed a key role at Borussia Park next season and that’ll be a brilliant chance for him to take his game on to the next level.
