Barcelona Transfer News: Neymar Offered Final Contract Agreement, Latest Rumours
Barcelona have reportedly made a final contract offer to Neymar that includes an annual salary of €15 million after tax.
That’s according to Sport, which noted this is the highest the Spanish champions can go in terms of wages, and they will now wait for a decision from the forward on whether he is to stay or move on. As stated in the piece, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Barca’s eternal rivals, Real Madrid, are looking to sign Neymar.
“The temptation right now for Neymar is PSG,” the piece continued. “The Parisian club is offering €25 million after tax per season, and at Barca they are conscious of the fact that if the player prioritises money, it is possible he will go.”

However, Barcelona's financial vice-president Susana Monje has dismissed speculation that Neymar could leave the club. "Neymar's [contract] renewal is a sporting matter," she said, per Sky Sports. "Economically, you have already known the margins for a while. We have not studied the impact of a hypothetical loss of Neymar. We do not contemplate it."
For the Catalan club it would be a huge shame to lose the former Santos man, as he’s emerged as a world-class talent during his three seasons at the Camp Nou. Here is a look back at some of his best moments from last term:
Neymar enjoyed the finest campaign of his career in 2015-16. In the early parts of the season especially, there were times when he was the driving force in this Barcelona team, producing definitive moments in the final third. When Lionel Messi was out injured for two months, the Brazilian fulfilled the role of team talisman.
Still, towards the back end of the season Neymar’s form did tail off significantly, as Barca fell short in the defence of their UEFA Champions League title.

Despite his obvious talent, sports journalist Rafael Hernandez feels as though the player is being badly advised and wouldn’t be too disappointed to see the Brazil international move on from the Camp Nou:
Barcelona would surely want to keep him, and it feels as though the club are doing all they can to ensure that happens.
Neymar seems to enjoy playing in Catalonia and has won a string of honours in the iconic Blaugrana jersey; provided it’s silverware that motivates him, he’ll surely opt to stay where he is.
Arsenal to Battle for Douglas Santos

According to Brazilian outlet Hoje Em Dia (h/t George Bellshaw of Metro), Barcelona will face competition from Arsenal if they’re to secure the signing of Atletico Mineiro man Douglas Santos.
Bellshaw noted Barcelona want to sign the 22-year-old left-back as back-up for Jordi Alba but have yet to make any contact with the Brazilian side about a possible transfer. Arsenal are said to have been in touch with Atletico about a potential deal, though, with the player reportedly available for £7.7 million.
Santos impressed in the 2015 season and has started the 2016 term in fine form, too. Here is a look at what he can offer:
While Alba is a brilliant player at his absolute best, there were times last season when the Spain international dipped below his usual high standards.
Spanish football expert Sergi Dominguez was surprised to see the left-back making a positive impact for his country at the 2016 UEFA European Championship recently:
Any player that is in a comfortable position will eventually lose their edge, though, and for Alba some competition for his spot in the side could spur him on to better things.
Santos, who also likes to raid forward on the left flank in dynamic style, has the potential to be a fine deputy and maybe even push the former Valencia man for a starting spot.
It’s an area Barca certainly need to strengthen and given the large South American contingent in the current squad, Santos would find life easy to settle into in Catalonia. With Arsenal also said to be in the mix, the club will have to keep a close eye on developments.
