Stephen Curry Comments on 2016 NBA Finals Game 7 Matchup vs. Cavaliers

Adam WellsJun 18, 2016

Stephen Curry is used to pressure after winning back-to-back MVP awards and leading the Golden State Warriors to an NBA-record 73 wins during the regular season. He understands everything at stake Sunday in Game 7 of the NBA Finals.

Speaking to reporters Saturday, per John Chick of the Score, Curry said, "I need to play my best game of the year if not my career." He added it "doesn't mean a 50-point game, though."

Easily the NBA's most reliable shooter during the regular season, Curry has not played like himself in the first six games against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The most surprising thing to come out of Cleveland's Game 6 victory was Curry's first career ejection. The MVP had just fouled out and was tossed after throwing his mouthpiece following a questionable foul call late in the fourth quarter.

Per Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated, Curry acknowledged he'll focus on avoiding fouls in Game 7:

Curry and the Warriors need to cap off this magical season with a title, especially after taking a 3-1 series lead. But LeBron James, a future Hall of Famer playing at his best, stands in his way.

Even with all of that, Curry admitted he won't "feel any extra pressure, which is good. I just want to enjoy the moment."

Despite his overall performance in this series, Curry has every reason to feel confident heading into Game 7. The Warriors have not lost three straight games all season and will play at home, where they have lost only four games in 2015-16.
