Craig Sager FaceTimes with Cancer Survivor Pitt RB James Conner Before Game 6

Before working his first career NBA Finals game Thursday, sideline reporter Craig Sager talked to Pittsburgh Panthers running back and cancer survivor James Conner on FaceTime.

Per Lauren Brill of WEWS-TV in Cleveland, this wasn't planned. Someone happened to mention to Sager—who told HBO's Real Sports in March (h/t Sports Illustrated) that his leukemia is no longer in remission—that he has been Conner's inspiration.

The 2014 ACC Player of the Year was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma in 2015, per ESPN.com's Matt Fortuna, but he was declared cancer-free last month:
