Capturing the highly rated 19-year-old is undoubtedly something of a coup—one Schalke will be hoping to reap the rewards of for years to come.
Embolo can play as a centre-forward or on the right wing, and a strong season saw him finish with 13 goals and nine assists in all competitions. He also made Switzerland's Euro 2016 squad.
Here are some of the qualities supporters can expect to see from him:
Though he is still a raw talent, it's clear the youngster possesses great potential.
Embolo uses his exceptional pace and power to run fearlessly at defences, and his runs off the ball show good intelligence, too.
As his assist record shows, he not only takes chances, but creates them as well, feeding his team-mates with well-executed through balls and crosses into the box.
He also has a fairly strong work ethic for a forward, showing a willingness to track back to regain possession and close down passes to intercept.

With the qualities he possesses, he gives Schalke another much-needed option up front. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar turns 33 in August and Franco Di Santo isn't particularly prolific—he netted just two Bundesliga goals last term in 25 appearances.
His energy and dynamism should dovetail nicely with Leroy Sane's and add further pace to the team.
Aside from his outings for Switzerland at the European Championship, his only experience of playing at the highest level has thus far come through some limited opportunities in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.
Nevertheless, he appears ready to make the step up, and his strengths should translate well to his new surroundings. Schalke will also provide a more forgiving environment in which to hone his craft, so there's a good chance he'll be a successful signing.
