While few would have expected the U.S. to beat Colombiaranked third in the world by FIFAin their first match, it was disappointing they failed to even particularly trouble them on home soil.

However, Jurgen Klinsmann's side provided the perfect response to their early setback with wins over Costa Rica and Paraguay and a clean sheet in each—something Colombia failed to do against both sides.

Former USMNT star Landon Donovan praised the German for changing their system:

The manager has also been consistent with his team selection, naming the same starting XI in each—the first time he has done so in three consecutive games, per Fox Sports' Grant Wahl.

However, after DeAndre Yedlin picked up a red card in their last match, at least one change will be needed. Fox Soccer's Alexi Lalas believes Michael Orozco will come in at right-back to replace him, but he otherwise anticipates the same lineup from Klinsmann:

With Yedlin's absence necessitating a change to the back four—the area of the pitch where it's arguably the most important to name a settled lineup—the pressure will be on centre-back pairing Geoff Cameron and John Brooks.

The duo have formed a strong partnership together, and Brooks in particular has caught the eye at the Centenario so far. SBI Soccer's Ives Galarcep and Wahl picked him out as one of the team's top performers:

Ecuador have some Premier League quality in their side with Enner Valencia up front and the likes of Jefferson Montero and Antonio Valencia on the flanks, so a strong defensive showing will go a long way to securing a semi-final berth.

Klinsmann also believes playing the game in Seattle will give his side a real boost, per Ari Liljenwall of MLSSoccer.com:

"

To play this game in front of Seattle is huge for us. It’s a 50-50 game. Every little small piece can make the difference. It’s huge for us to know that we have the crowd behind us and have a crowd that understands that.

[...]

In the last years you’ve seen the interest in soccer is just growing and getting bigger and bigger. Seattle is kind of leading that whole development. It’s a place where we know the fans are going to be 1,000 percent behind us and going to push us.

"

Indeed, the partisan crowd should lift the players, though Ecuador have enough about them to prompt caution.

Los Amarillos were unbeaten in Group B—which admittedly was composed of Haiti, Peru and a lacklustre Brazil side—but they showed their resilience, particularly when they came from two goals down to draw with Peru.

Enner Valencia is also in strong form, per the tournament's official Twitter feed:

The West Ham United frontman is an accomplished player on the international stage—he scored all three of Ecuador's goals at the 2014 FIFA World Cup—and can cause problems with his pace.

The USA are a stronger united overall, though, and tend to do well under pressure, so they should come out on top here.
