France will be looking to improve their perfect all-time record as the Euro host nation to 7-0-0 when they take on Albania as heavy chalk. Euro 2016 marks the second time that France has hosted the European championship, with Les Bleus running the table with five straight wins en route to claiming their first major international title in 1984.
The French lived up to their billing as +300 favorites on the odds to win Euro 2016 in last Friday's tournament opener, overpowering a stingy Romanian defense to capture a 2-1 victory and pay out as -325 favorites.
The club also rides a five-match overall winning streak and have won their last seven matches played on home turf. However, they have struggled at times to contain opposing shooters, allowing nine total goals over their past six games.
Albania was dominated by Switzerland in their first group stage contest, fielding just 10 men for the last 54 minutes of the match after club captain Lorik Cana was dismissed on his second yellow card.
The Albanians were both out-possessed and outshot by the Swiss but were kept in the game by the outstanding goalkeeping of Etrit Berisha, who slammed the door after allowing the lone goal of the match just five minutes into the contest.
The Red and Blacks have now recorded wins in just three of 11 outings since shocking France with a 1-0 win in an international friendly just over a year ago.
Albania was dominated statistically, claiming just 38 percent possession, but they held the vaunted French offense to four total shots on target. France was unable to beat Berisha, who also backstopped the squad to a pair of clean-sheet victories during Euro qualifying.
Albania has now denied France the win in their past two meetings, including a 1-1 draw in a 2014 friendly, but the French have held the upper hand in meaningful contests. France earned victories in their previous four clashes, in 1992 and 2012 Euro qualifying, outscoring Albania by an 11-1 margin in those victories.
France vs. Albania Prediction: 3-0 France
