Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest on Toni Kroos and David De Gea Rumours

Tom SunderlandJun 13, 2016

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos is reportedly being courted by Juventus this summer as the Bianconeri sweat over the future of Paul Pogba. Meanwhile, Los Blancos have until Wednesday to sign David De Gea before his release clause expires.

Serie A journalist Fabrizio Romano reported Real aren't keen on letting Kroos leave the Santiago Bernabeu—unless a club is willing to pay €50 million (£40 million) for his signature, per Italian outlet Calciomercato.

Kroos won the second UEFA Champions League crown of his career with Real last season.

According to Romano, Real Madrid and Juventus are scheduled to meet in the coming days to discuss the cases of Mateo Kovacic and Alvaro Morata, who have been linked with moves in and out of Turin, respectively.

Kroos is away on international duty and dazzled in Germany's Euro 2016 opener against Ukraine on Sunday, where he contributed a man-of-the-match display en route to a 2-0 victory:

The Bianconeri may not have the kind of funds necessary to pull off such a major coup, but should Pogba leave the Old Lady this summer, that could change quickly.

In that event, Juve would have the need to recruit another box-to-box figure, and Italian daily La Reppublica recently reported Real are ready to offer €120 million (£95 million) for Pogba (h/t Calciomercato).

Kroos rode through a period of adversity under former Real manager Rafa Benitez, but he's recaptured his best with Zinedine Zidane at the Real Madrid helm, while his international form rarely stutters.

According to James Robson of the Manchester Evening News, the ranks have been thinned in the hunt for Kroos, too, after Manchester City pulled out of the running:

On the inbound list, the Sunday Times reported the special clause that would allow Real to sign Manchester United goalkeeper De Gea for an alleged £47 million expires on Wednesday (h/t Robson of MEN).

The Spain international is currently embroiled in a controversy that has instigated him as part of a sexual assault case in his native land, per Jordi Gil of Sport, but De Gea has denied the allegations aimed toward him:

"

I'm the first to be surprised by the news, which I want to deny - it's a lie and it's false. They can put what they want, it's all false. It's in the hands of my lawyers. I don't know where these things come from.

I have more enthusiasm than ever to continue with the national team. I'm still very relaxed. This won't affect me on a sporting level. I just want to train and do what I like to do. I just want the tournament to start and to play."

I was in my room. I was told and I phoned my family. Those who know me well, know that this is false; my family's mind is at ease. It's now in the hands of my lawyers.

"

Real Madrid came within inches of signing De Gea in the summer of 2015 only for a filing error to prevent him and Keylor Navas swapping places between the two clubs.

It's unlikely a deal will be reached while De Gea is at Euro 2016, meaning Los Merengues will not have the advantage of a release clause in any future negotiations.
