Belmont Stakes Results 2016: Finishing Times, Payouts List and Video Highlights

For the first time since 2013, there was a different winner in each of the three Triple Crown races, after Creator won the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, narrowly defeating Destin by a nose. 

Here is the race's payout list, which split a purse of $1.5 million, along with the official finishing times:

All eyes were on Exaggerator, who upset previously undefeated Nyquist at the Preakness Stakes in May. Given the length of the Belmont Stakes at 1 ½ miles and his ability to make late charges, he was the favorite in Elmont, New York. 

It wasn't surprising when Exaggerator took to the middle of the pack, while Gettysburg and Destin jumped out to early leads. Meanwhile, Creator took to the rail behind the Preakness winner. 

Exaggerator never kicked it into gear while Gettysburg remained in front. Once they hit the top of the stretch, Creator got to the outside, where he showed his late finishing ability. 

But Destin was going nowhere as Gettysburg faded and Creator pulled up side-by-side with the leader to create a memorable finish, via the Score:

Given there was no drama of a Triple Crown pursuit, horse racing fans couldn't have expected a more exciting finish despite the lack of a big-time storyline. This year's edition of the Belmont Stakes will be talked about for a long time.
