Belmont Stakes 2016 Payout: Field Times and Prize-Money Earnings
Once Exaggerator turned the corner, he slowly fell behind the leader length by length.
Meanwhile, the winner of the Belmont Stakes was decided by a nose Saturday.
Creator and Destin were neck-and-neck coming down the homestretch, but Creator's nose was the first to cross the finish line as he won the 148th running at Belmont Park in New York.
Here's a breakdown of the results along with the prize-money earnings:

Exaggerator came into Saturday's race on a roll. The colt was the runner-up in the Kentucky Derby and ended Nyquist's Triple Crown bid at the Preakness.
Momentum was with Exaggerator despite the damp conditions in New York. But the track conditions, and possibly fatigue, showed their effect on Exaggerator. Jockey Kent Desormeaux couldn't get him past fourth place.
Despite Exaggerator's shortcomings, it was an entertaining race. Creator didn't make his move until the final turn. Gettysburg held the lead after a mile before Destin made his charge down the stretch. At the last second, Creator made his dash to beat Destin by a nose.
This image from theScore gives an idea as to how close of a call it was:
The final race of the Triple Crown ended with a ho-hum storyline but a fantastic finish. According to Odds Shark's Mike Dempsey, American Pharoah remains the only betting favorite since 2005 to win the Belmont Stakes, but don't let that take away from what was a fun finish for the sport of horse racing.
