Belmont Stakes 2016: Post Time, TV Coverage, NBC Live Stream and Purse Payout
The 148th running of the Belmont Stakes is just hours away with 13 horses in pursuit of winning the final leg of the Triple Crown circuit.
As the headliner of an eight-race day from Elmont, New York, the Triple Crown's final jewel will be Saturday's last race of the day, with a post time of 6:35 p.m. ET.
For those who will be watching at home, here is all the viewing information you need to know:
| Saturday, June 11 | 6:35 p.m. | NBC | 5 p.m. | NBC Sports Live Extra |
The field will compete for a purse of $1.5 million for a 1 ½-mile race. Here's a look at the horses who will take to the stalls, along with their morning lines, courtesy of BelmontStakes.com:
| 1 | Governor Malibu | 12/1 |
| 2 | Destin | 6/1 |
| 3 | Cherry Wine | 8/1 |
| 4 | Suddenbreakingnews | 10/1 |
| 5 | Stradivari | 5/1 |
| 6 | Gettysburg | 30/1 |
| 7 | Seeking The Soul | 30/1 |
| 8 | Forever D'Oro | 30/1 |
| 9 | Trojan Nation | 30/1 |
| 10 | Lani | 20/1 |
| 11 | Exaggerator | 9/5 |
| 12 | Brody's Cause | 20/1 |
| 13 | Creator | 10/1 |
All eyes are going to be on Exaggerator, who is the favorite after he won the Preakness Stakes and upset the once-undefeated Nyquist on the homestretch.
He can overtake any competitor in the final furlongs of a race, which makes Belmont Park the perfect venue, as he'll have plenty of time to mount a charge toward the front.
However, nine horses are more rested than Exaggerator, as they did not participate in the Preakness. On such a long track, a more rested horse could keep up and catch the race favorite if he were to run out of gas.
That could leave a horse such as Creator, who runs like Exaggerator, an opportunity to make some noise at Belmont.
