All eyes will be on the Stade de France on Friday as Euro 2016 host and tournament betting favorite France takes on Romania in the tournament opener as strong chalk.

Les Bleus enter the tournament on an impressive 9-0-1 run that has lifted them to the top of the Euro 2016 odds, and they have outscored opponents by a 13-6 margin in their past four outings.

Following disappointing finishes in both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2012, France has a lot to prove at this year's tournament.

The squad dominated early on in the 2014 World Cup before eventual champion Germany knocked it off in the quarterfinal, and it struggled out of the group stage before getting thumped by Spain in the quarters at Euro 2012.

But Les Bleus have earned a reputation as the team to beat when hosting major international tournaments.

France went undefeated as the host nation en route to its first-ever Euro championship in 1984 and claimed its sole World Cup title as host in 1998 before winning its most recent international tournament title on home turf at the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Romania returns to the Euro for the first time since 2008 sporting distant odds to win the tournament and is a long +1200 bet to finish atop the Group A table.

The Tricolorii sit as heavy +1100 underdogs in their matchup with France but will be riding high when they hit the pitch following an impressive showing in their final pre-tournament match, pounding Georgia 5-1 last Friday as -208 chalk.

The squad dropped a 4-3 decision to Ukraine in late May but has otherwise been steady, avoiding defeat in its previous 19 matches dating back to September 2014 and recording clean sheets in eight victories.

The Romanians have also been competitive in recent matchups with France, playing to a draw in four of their past five meetings, including a scoreless draw in the tournament opener at Euro 2008.

France vs. Romania Prediction: 2-0 France
