Samson Injured at Live House Show in Nashville

Samson's match in Nashville, Tennessee, over the weekend had to be stopped after he couldn't put any weight on his foot, WWE announced on its official website Monday.  

“Elias will be put in a cast and crutches but is expected to make a full recovery," ringside physician Dr. Chris Amann said of the fracture.

The Drifter made his NXT debut on Dec. 23 as a guitar-playing man of mystery. While there was much buildup surrounding his debut, Samson has been on the losing end of many matches since the turn of the calendar year. Losses to Apollo Crews at NXT TakeOver: Dallas and Shinsuke Nakamura have put Samson in the main event picture on NXT but nothing more.

The fans also haven't seemed to look upon Samson's gimmick with favor. He doesn't appear to get traditional heel heat; the crowd seems disinterested.

This injury will halt NXT's chances to turn Samson into that top heel he could be. Whether his current act will be good enough to win the crowd over is too early to tell.

Nevertheless, this will open the door for another NXT star to take his place and get more exposure.
