LeBron James tried to equip his team with the proper protection before the playoffs began.
The Cleveland Cavaliers star gave his teammates life-sized, hand-crafted shields with personalized inscriptions before the team started its run to back-to-back NBA Finals appearances, according to Cleveland.com's Chris Haynes.
"For me, I appreciated it," forward Channing Frye told Haynes. "It just showed his thought process not just about the game, but about the mental aspect of everybody being on the same page."
But unfortunately for the Cavaliers, the gift offered no actual protection from the onslaught brought on by the Golden State Warriors in the first two games of the NBA Finals, including the 110-77 rout in Game 2.
Cleveland carries a 2-0 series deficit into Game 3 on Wednesday at Quicken Loans Arena.
