Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Hirving Lozano, Michael Carrick Rumours

New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is considering a move for Mexico winger Hirving Lozano and is ready to give Michael Carrick a new deal to stay at Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old attacker—who plays for Pachuca—has been scouted by the Red Devils on several occasions in recent times, and the player's club vice-president Andres Fassi told Record MX (h/t Arindam Rej of ESPN FC):

There have been approaches. There will be time to focus on the future of Hirving Lozano.

There is a situation of confidentiality for 30 days with 12 teams. They are evaluating, looking at options, making plans, but I cannot say anything else. Three of the 12 teams are better placed, that is all we can say - due to the confidentiality clauses in place.

Pachuca, for several years, has a structure of great relationship with many teams in England, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Germany. Some agreements allow the players to go to Europe in the future.

Pachuca sporting director Marco Garces previously told ESPN FC's Tom Marshall late last year that "he regularly visits England" and "he has an established history with United." 

Garces previously alerted the Old Trafford giants to Mexican striker Javier Hernandez, whom United went on to sign from Chivas de Guadalajara in 2010.

Lozano is currently on Copa America duty with Mexico and made a strong impact last term, scoring twice in six games for Pachuca in the Primera Division, according to WhoScored.com.

In other news, Mourinho is set to retain the services of Carrick after his contract expired at the end of the campaign.

Perth Glory chief executive Peter Filopoulos let the information slip in an interview with Ben Somerfield of FourFourTwo:

Perth was an option for Michael Carrick as he was going through what he was going to do in his career had he not landed a new signature with Manchester United. 

We understand he’s now secured an extension with Manchester United so that’s off the table. 

It certainly was an option to him and his family for lifestyle reasons.

Carrick recently gave his blessing to United's deal with the self-proclaimed Special One, calling Mourinho a "good fit" for the club, per Sky Sports News HQ:

Mourinho's rebuilding of the club will last longer than the current transfer window, and the retention of the 34-year-old will allow the Portuguese to focus his signings on more problematic positions.

The manager will know the consistency Carrick offers on a weekly basis and will be pleased to have an experienced option from the bench in the next year.

The England midfielder is the vice-captain at United and will be a useful and calming presence in the dressing room during a period of extreme change next term.
