Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Eden Hazard and Patrick Bamford Rumours

Tom SunderlandJun 5, 2016

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard has ended speculation of a summer move away from the club following rumours he could join Paris Saint-Germain, saying he wishes to leave Stamford Bridge "like a boss." Meanwhile, Newcastle United are reportedly interested in striker Patrick Bamford.

Hazard spoke to French broadcaster Telefoot this week and addressed rumours linking him with a move to PSG, insisting he won't leave Chelsea on such a sour note (h/t Metro's Max Miller): "I have a contract until 2020. I don’t want to finish like this. If I have to leave, I must do it like a boss. Like I did in Lille. PSG are not among my projects right now."

Chelsea stumbled to a 10th-place finish in the Premier League last season, and Hazard was one of the most infamous under-performers during the vast majority of their forgettable 2015-16 campaign.

The 25-year-old will lead Belgium into Euro 2016 this summer, and with Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Lombaerts both injured, football writer John Chapman confirmed the wide man will make history at the tournament:

Hazard will look to make his mark under new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte next season once the Italian leaves the Azzurri helm at the end of the European Championship, where he'll hope to continue regaining his better form.

After going the first eight-and-a-half months of the 2015-16 season without a goal, Hazard scored four in his last six Premier League games and bagged an equaliser in Belgium's 3-2 win over Norway on Sunday.

Hazard headed an equaliser in Belgium's 3-2 friendly win over Norway on Sunday.

In some ways, one has to admire the former Lille starlet for his desire to re-establish himself as a Blues icon rather than bow out on a low. Chelsea fans can hope he'll be able to soon call upon his former best.

One team-mate who thinks a lot of the player if reserve goalkeeper Marco Amelia, who was recently quoted by ESPN FC's Liam Twomey and said the player is on a world-class level:

While Hazard looks set to remain in west London, another who could finally depart Stamford Bridge is Bamford, with Newcastle reportedly ready to pay £10 million for the youngster.

That's according to the Chronicle, which reported the Magpies are hopeful of landing a striker who is already proven in the Championship (h/t David Wright of the Daily Express).

The 22-year-old has previously spent spells on loan at Middlesbrough and Derby County, netting a total of 25 goals in 61 Championship appearances, although he's yet to make his senior debut for Chelsea.

Bamford was farmed out to Crystal Palace in 2015-16 and made nine appearances before his deal was terminated. He then moved to Norwich City on loan in January, making seven appearances for the Canaries but failing to score.
