Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Rumours

Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly the two teams in the driving seat when it comes to the pursuit of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

That’s according to Paul Hetherington of the Daily Star Sunday, who stated the forward, valued at a whopping £65 million, is being eyed by both Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola this summer. It’s noted the Gabon international has held talks with Dortmund about his future.

Hetherington added that while Arsenal have been linked with the player in the past, their attention is fixed on securing Jamie Vardy from Leicester City instead. Real Madrid are also tipped as a side who may show late interest in the player.

According to Simon Mullock of the Sunday Mirror, Manchester United will listen to offers for Bastian Schweinsteiger this summer after the midfielder’s injury-hit debut season at the football club.

The Germany international joined from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2015 with plenty of fanfare surrounding his arrival. And while there have been glimpses of the veteran’s outstanding quality, he’s spent a lot of time on the sidelines with injury at Old Trafford.

Despite his various struggles with form and fitness, football journalist Liam Canning thinks there is more for the player to offer next season:

Mourinho will want to build a squad at United that has balance. Evidently, young players such as Martial, Rashford and Luke Shaw will be key to his plan, but the Portuguese has always valued the influence of experienced men. So Schweinsteiger could potentially play a crucial role.

However, Mourinho will also want a squad full of dynamic, hard-working players, and Schweinsteiger doesn't necessarily fall into those particular categories.
