Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Rumours
Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly the two teams in the driving seat when it comes to the pursuit of Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
That’s according to Paul Hetherington of the Daily Star Sunday, who stated the forward, valued at a whopping £65 million, is being eyed by both Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola this summer. It’s noted the Gabon international has held talks with Dortmund about his future.
Hetherington added that while Arsenal have been linked with the player in the past, their attention is fixed on securing Jamie Vardy from Leicester City instead. Real Madrid are also tipped as a side who may show late interest in the player.

Aubameyang has always been a major threat with his blistering speed, but his performances during the 2015-16 campaign saw him cement his status as one of the world’s most feared frontmen. Here are some of the best bits from his memorable term:
The improvements in his game under the guidance of manager Thomas Tuchel have been so helpful to growing his reputation. Aubameyang had a tendency to snatch at chances earlier in his career and often panicked in the prosperous positions on the field his searing speed afforded him. But he’s refined and channeled his talents as of late.
As these figures from Squawka Football show, the 26-year-old is efficient when opportunities do come his way:
For United, he’d potentially be a galvanising presence. The club’s best sides, particularly those under Sir Alex Ferguson, had a reputation for playing sharp and incisive attacking football. Under that particular blueprint, Aubameyang would thrive, and it’s a style new manager Mourinho will surely look to get back to.
However, making room for Aubameyang may be tough at Old Trafford next term. The club already has Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford to fill the centre-forward berth, and according to Andy Burton of Sky Sports News HQ, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will soon sign a one-year deal with United.
Bastian Schweinsteiger Set for Exit

According to Simon Mullock of the Sunday Mirror, Manchester United will listen to offers for Bastian Schweinsteiger this summer after the midfielder’s injury-hit debut season at the football club.
The Germany international joined from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2015 with plenty of fanfare surrounding his arrival. And while there have been glimpses of the veteran’s outstanding quality, he’s spent a lot of time on the sidelines with injury at Old Trafford.
Despite his various struggles with form and fitness, football journalist Liam Canning thinks there is more for the player to offer next season:
Mourinho will want to build a squad at United that has balance. Evidently, young players such as Martial, Rashford and Luke Shaw will be key to his plan, but the Portuguese has always valued the influence of experienced men. So Schweinsteiger could potentially play a crucial role.
After all, the Germany international has enjoyed quite the career, adding the 2015-16 FA Cup to his prestigious list of honours, detailed by Sky Sports News HQ:
However, Mourinho will also want a squad full of dynamic, hard-working players, and Schweinsteiger doesn't necessarily fall into those particular categories. He’ll need to prove he has what it takes to play a part under the new boss, who will be desperate to bring the Premier League title back to Old Trafford.
The German could show he still has a lot left in the tank this summer, when he will be tasked with leading his country to glory at the UEFA European Championship. At 31, Schweinsteiger still has time to make a big impression for United in the Premier League; he must show Mourinho he’s capable of doing so consistently, though.
