French Open 2016 Results: Women's Final Score and Men's Final Predictions
Garbine Muguruza stunned Serena Williams 7-5, 6-4 to win the 2016 French Open crown on Saturday, stripping the defending champion of her title in confident fashion at Roland Garros.
The 22-year-old won the first Grand Slam of her career in a straight-sets shocker and prevented Williams, a three-time champion in Paris, from clinching back-to-back French Open titles.
Muguruza also became the first Spaniard to claim the women's crown at Roland Garros since compatriot Arantxa Sanchez Vicario did so in 1998, where she also defeated an American opponent—Monica Seles.
The official Roland Garros Twitter account provided footage of the lob that befuddled Williams and won Muguruza her first-ever major, seemingly as much of a surprise to her as it was to her final foe:
In the men's singles, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray will duel for French Open glory on Sunday, each seeking their maiden titles at Roland Garros in a re-staging of this year's Australian Open final.
World No. 1 Djokovic is hoping to finally complete his Grand Slam collection with victory in the French final, while Murray has already clinched some history, according to the official Wimbledon Twitter account:
Muguruza's win will have given Murray some hope as to what the underdog can achieve this weekend, considering she entered her final as a distinct dark horse, per Odds Shark and BettingExpert.com.
Both Djokovic and Murray have shown signs of wavering in this year's tournament already, but who will come out flying in Sunday's finale?
Murray Stops Djokovic Completing His Set

There's a certain sense of destiny about top seed Djokovic coming into his Roland Garros decider, having failed at this stage in three of the last four French Opens but now enjoying the form of his career.
With Roger Federer absent altogether, Rafael Nadal lost to injury and defending champion Stanislas Wawrinka knocked out by Murray, ESPN Stats & Info pointed to this fixture becoming a very familiar one:
But despite that fateful feeling this could be Djokovic's year, an in-form Murray stands in his way, and the Scot's improvements on clay this year could come to be another snag in the road.
Tennis writer David Law has pondered whether Murray could be the man to hand Djokovic a fourth runner-up medal at Roland Garros:
ESPN Tennis also noted that Murray warmed up for the French Open with a win over Djokovic on clay at the Roma Masters:
"Djokovic is 23-10 vs. Murray, including a 3-1 edge on clay. Murray won last meeting, which was on clay, in Rome final.

While the Serb trounced both Tomas Berdych and Dominic Thiem in straights sets over the last two rounds of competition, it could be that Murray's harder-fought wins against Richard Gasquet and Wawrinka could be the ideal preparation.
It won't be as simple as the 6-3, 6-3 victory that saw him past his common enemy in Italy last month, but Murray has the keys and competence on clay to record another upset on Sunday.
Prediction: Murray to win in four sets
