Adam WellsJun 3, 2016

Free-agent fullback Derrick Coleman has been charged with vehicular assault and felony hit-and-run stemming from a car crash in October, per the Associated Press (via Yahoo Sports).

"Coleman is scheduled to be arraigned June 16," the AP noted. "He could face 12 to 16 months behind bars if convicted of both charges."

Per KIRO-TV 7 in Seattle, the King County Prosecutor's Office announced Coleman's case "was referred to prosecutors in late January. The case has been under review and ongoing investigation."

KIRO-TV 7 noted the police report said Coleman was driving 60 mph in a 35 mph zone and "travel cameras captured Coleman driving outside his lane of travel."

In October, Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reported Coleman was arrested by Bellevue police for allegedly leaving a car after he struck another vehicle. Condotta also noted the Seattle Seahawks suspended the 25-year-old indefinitely while the investigation was ongoing.

Bellevue Police Chief Steven Mylett told the media "there was enough evidence there to lead us to suspect that perhaps drugs or alcohol could have been involved," per Condotta.

Condotta's report included a statement from Coleman's agents, Derrick Fox and Mark Bloom: "While the facts of the case are still being determined, it seems Derrick may have fallen asleep while driving home from a Seahawks' facility. … We will continue to work closely with the local officials while a full investigation is being conducted."

Coleman played with the Seahawks from 2012 to 2015. He appeared in 14 games last season, including three starts, and has 10 carries for 35 yards and two receiving touchdowns in his career.
