Full Main Event Preview
The battle for the NXT Championship between Samoa Joe and Balor is one of the most anticipated title bouts in the history of the brand due in part to the fact that it will be the first cage match in NXT history.
The feud between Samoa Joe and Balor dates back to the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament at NXT TakeOver: Respect in October 2015. Since then, the two men have been embroiled in an ongoing battle that has included main event matches at both TakeOver: London and TakeOver: Dallas.
While Balor successfully defended his title against Samoa Joe in all of their previous matchups, the NXT Championship shockingly changed hands at an April house show in Lowell, Massachusetts. Now, Balor is looking to reclaim the belt.
When Balor lost the title at a house show, most wrestling fans thought he would be called up to the WWE main roster soon, so Samoa Joe should be expected to win Wednesday at TakeOver: The End.
Unlike the main event at TakeOver: Dallas, which was interrupted when doctors had to intervene to try and stop the bleeding from Samoa Joe, Balor and the champion will be locked inside a cage where they will have the opportunity to steal the show.
The in-ring battle has the potential to be one of the best matches of the year if given enough time and the right story to tell, but Balor looks destined for a jump to the main roster, so fans shouldn’t expect him to take back the NXT Championship.
Predicted winner: Samoa Joe
