LeBron James Breaks Robert Horry's Record for Most Career 3s in NBA Finals

Danny WebsterJun 2, 2016

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers lost Game 1 of the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, 104-89, at Oracle Arena, but James claimed a record in the process.

He made two three-pointers and surpassed Robert Horry for the most in NBA Finals history. He now has 57 in his career, per NBA on ESPN.

James came into Thursday's game tied with former Miami Heat teammate Ray Allen for second place. The closest behind James, Allen and Horry are Derek Fisher and Kobe Bryant, both with 48 makes.

This is James' seventh NBA Finals, which is the same number Horry played in during his 16-year career. Horry became a household name for making three-pointers in big moments, like the five he made for the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the 2005 NBA Finals against the Detroit Pistons.

James is also in his sixth consecutive NBA Finals and is looking for his third championship. The most three-pointers he's made in a Finals game is five, which came in Game 7 against the Spurs in 2013.

Given James' ability to make big shots in the Finals, he'll likely distance himself from Horry and the others by the time the series is over. As for the years to come, Cleveland will continue be the Eastern Conference favorite until another team says otherwise, so James could have more opportunities to increase his mark.
