Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has ruled out Robert Lewandowski leaving the club for Real Madrid this summer, per Kicker (h/t SW Lim of Goal).

The Poland international's sublime form during 2015-16 has attracted the attention of the Madrid giants ahead of the summer transfer window, having scored 42 goals in 48 appearances for the Bavarians this term, per WhoScored.com.

Per the Guardian's Ed Aarons, Lewandowski's agent Cezary Kucharski revealed Lewandowski had spoken with Los Blancos officials in a bid to negotiate a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. The prolific centre forward has three years remaining on his current deal at the Allianz Arena but rejected an extended offer from the German champions in April.

Per Aarons, Kucharski was quoted as saying to German publication Spiegel: "Real Madrid contacted us a few weeks ago, we listened to everything they said. It’s a big and exciting club. We have informed FC Bayern that we’ve held talks with Madrid.”

The Pole won the golden boot in a season that saw Bayern claim a Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double under departing head coach Pep Guardiola, as Lewandowski became the first non-German to reach 30 league goals, per ESPN.

OptaFranz named the striker in their team of the season for his inspired campaign:

At 27 years old, the dominant German outfit will be concerned at the possibility of losing their star striker as he enters the height of his powers.

Lewandowski joined from domestic rivals Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer after agreeing a pre-contract agreement with the heavyweights in January 2014, and he has gone on to secure consecutive league titles.

Per Lim, Rummenigge is defiant in his resolution that the gifted striker will not be leaving Bayern, whatever the price.

“One thing I know for sure. Lewandowski will play at Bayern Munich in the next season. No one must make thoughts about that,” he told Kicker.

“The decision is like: We will not give Robert Lewandowski to another club, no matter what they will offer to us. We have no breaking point at Robert."

Lewandowski will look to lead Poland through the group stage at Euro 2016, with the official account for the tournament celebrating his achievements this term:

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague recently claimed in an interview with Sky Sports that Real are desperate to sort a deal for the former Lech Poznan attacker and suggested Lewandowski would be interested in a move to La Liga:

"

Those in the player's close circle view enormous potential in a possible Bale-Lewandowski partnership and feel the time is right for him to make the move to the Spanish capital.

He never thought he would have the chance to join Madrid while Cristiano Ronaldo was at the peak of his form but in Poland, the belief is that the Portugal forward and Karim Benzema's time at the club is coming to an end.

"

Per Aarons, Zinedine Zidane will be forced to make an offer in excess of £50 million to tempt the Germans to part with Lewandowski due to the length of time remaining on his current contract.
